A Message to Our Patients:
Thank you for scheduling surgery with us. In addition to our usual pre-operative routine, the State of New York, in cooperation with the Federal Center for Disease Control, is mandating that all surgical patients have their COVID-19 status confirmed (testing and resulted) within 6 days of their surgery. This means that if you have already had COVID-19, you would need to show a positive antibody test. If, like most, you have not had COVID-19, you would need a negative COVID-19 test within approximately 6 days of surgery.
This can be done at many local pharmacies for free without a doctor’s order. Testing can also be done at many doctors’ offices, local labs, and urgent-care centers for approximately $150 or your insurance can cover the cost. We are sorry for this added expense and want to give you options. It is a State requirement and does help to guarantee your safety and health. You are also requested to quarantine yourself, wear a mask, and social distance from the point of taking your COVID-19 test until your day of surgery. Please note that if you fail to comply with the COVID-19 testing requirement, your surgery may be cancelled, and your surgical fees forfeited.
Obviously if you do become ill before your surgery, please let us know as soon as possible so we can reschedule your case.
We look forward to giving you a safe and worthwhile surgical experience and if you have any questions, please call us at any time.
